What Are Spiritual Rituals?
Spiritual rituals are specific ceremonies performed with a clear, defined intention, and they can serve a wide variety of purposes. For example, this intention might be to connect with spirits—ancestral witches or non-witches—nature elementals like fairies and goblins, or denser entities such as Goetic demons. At the same time, rituals can also be aimed at attracting luck, money, clients for a business, a job opportunity, or performing spiritual cleansing rituals to purify energy, remove negativity, and restore balance.
Throughout history, spiritual rituals have been an essential part of human life, offering a bridge between the tangible world and the unseen forces that guide our existence. Whether performed individually or in groups, these practices provide a way to connect with the divine, seek clarity, or cultivate inner peace, creating a sense of purpose and direction.

Types of Spiritual Rituals
Rituals take many forms—lighting candles, chanting sacred mantras, meditating, or performing ceremonial dances. Each action carries symbolic meaning, designed to awaken the mind, body, and spirit. Moreover, the form a ritual takes often depends on the spiritual path being followed.
For instance, Wiccan rituals are typically performed collectively, invoking the spirits of witches who practiced natural magic long ago. On the other hand, Kimbanda rituals often call upon ancestral witches whose energy is dense and powerful, producing swift and tangible results. By combining intention with repetition, these rituals create a sacred space—a moment to pause, release what no longer serves, and invite light and energy into our lives. In this way, rituals are more than mere tradition; they are bridges to the unseen, guiding practitioners toward clarity, transformation, and connection with the greater mysteries of life.
The Importance of Energy Connection
Equally important is the connection you establish with a particular energy, as it is crucial to the success of any magical work. Consistent daily practice helps to foster a healthy and sincere bond, which strengthens the results of rituals.
In my experience, working with ancestral witch spirits from Brazil has shown me how specific and nuanced these practices can be. Many people have a naive view of nature elementals, imagining that fairies and goblins are innocent and harmless. However, in reality, they can be treacherous and extremely dangerous. For this reason, I do not work with elementals. Nevertheless, even the most challenging spirits can often be negotiated with effectively, though it requires skill and understanding.
Thus, regardless of the energy you intend to invoke, a well-established bond is essential. Whether you are calling on a Goetic demon or a nature elemental, knowing exactly what you are doing is critical to avoid serious consequences, such as financial loss, chaos, or illness.
Spiritual Rituals with Exú and Pombagira
With this context in mind, the purpose of this blog is to share my experiences with the worship of Exú and Pombagira for English-speaking readers. Consequently, I will focus on the rituals that these ancestral witch spirits commonly accept to assist in various aspects of life.
Pombagira Maria Padilha is an ancestral witch spirit who accompanies me. She excels at bringing money, jobs, clients, opening paths, positively influencing the feelings of one person toward another (known in magic as “sweetening”), and removing enemies. In addition, while she is often associated with love spells, Maria Padilha can also assist in spiritual cleansing rituals and other types of magical workings.

It is crucial to understand that every spirit is unique. Maria Padilha has her own preferences and rituals she enjoys performing, particularly those aimed at attracting clients for yacht girls. This is fascinating because Quimbanda spirits are amoral—they are not bound by conventional moral rules. Over the years, I have worked with women in this profession across several countries, and the results of these rituals have been consistently impressive.
Furthermore, Maria Padilha also supports practitioners who work with oracles—whether palm reading, tarot, cards, runes, or other methods. She draws clients to these practitioners, helping them thrive in their work.
Another spirit I work with is Exú Rei das 7 Encruzilhadas (Exú King of the 7 Crossroads), who is especially focused on financial prosperity and attracting money. I recall a time when my uncle urgently needed to sell a car to cover his wife’s surgery. He requested a ritual with Exú Rei das 7 Encruzilhadas to sell the car quickly. Remarkably, within twelve days, the car was sold without losing any of its market value.
Common Components in a Spiritual Ritual
As mentioned earlier, spiritual rituals can serve many purposes, so the elements used naturally vary depending on the intention. Moreover, each Exú or Pombagira works with specific items according to their preferences.
For example, Exú Rei das 7 Encruzilhadas favors pork as a simple offering for attracting money and opening paths. In contrast, Maria Padilha prefers a denser type of offering, which I cannot detail here. However, you can view photos of offerings on my Instagram profile.
Common items in rituals aimed at opening paths or attracting clients include pork, white corn native to the Americas, palm oil (dendê), various peppers, chicken gizzards, and fruits like papaya or oranges. Ultimately, the composition of the offering table depends on the personal taste of the spirit involved and the results of the divination consultation. During this process, the practitioner defines the client’s purpose and asks the spirit what is required as tools for the ritual, as well as the expected form of payment.

It is important to remember that no one works for free, and the same applies to spirits. They all require something in return, as it has always been and always will be. been this way, and it will always remain so.
