My Experience With Exu and Pombagira: Protection, Prosperity, and Spiritual Guidance

Many people ask me about my experience with Exu and Pombagira and whether it is worth becoming part of a spiritual house and honoring the ancestors. After years of ancestor veneration, I have lived through experiences that deeply shaped my life in areas such as spiritual protection, financial breakthroughs, personal relationships, and legal matters. For that reason, I decided to share this personal account of how working with Exu and Pombagira influenced my spiritual journey.

Whenever someone asks me whether it is worth walking this path, my answer is always the same: it depends.

Many people imagine that Exus and Pombagiras are like genies in a lamp, spiritual beings whose purpose is to grant wishes and fulfill every request. In my experience, that idea could not be further from the truth.

I see them as spiritual mentors who guide us through life’s crossroads. They can offer support, protection, and comfort during difficult times. However, they can also challenge us when we are heading in the wrong direction. We do not always receive what we want, but we are often guided toward what we truly need.

What I Learned From Working With Exu and Pombagira

Throughout my spiritual journey, Exu and Pombagira have helped me in many different ways. Some experiences were subtle, while others were so significant that they became impossible to ignore.

Over the years, I learned that spiritual guidance does not always appear in dramatic or obvious ways. Often, it comes through signs, unexpected changes, opportunities, and situations that only make sense when we look back on them later.

How Spirituality Removed Toxic Friendships

One of the first major changes I noticed was the removal of toxic friendships from my life.

There were people I considered important and genuinely believed were contributing positively to my life. However, spirituality gradually revealed aspects of their character that I had failed to see. Little by little, those individuals drifted away from me.

In total, about five people disappeared completely from my social circle. At the time, I found it strange and even painful. Today, however, I understand that this clearing process was necessary for my personal and spiritual growth.

Spiritual Protection During Difficult Times

I also experienced what I believe was spiritual protection during a period that I interpreted as a spiritual attack.

At one point, a person I considered a friend performed harmful spiritual work against me. The following week was extremely intense. I had recurring nightmares in which I was involved in a serious car accident on a highway.

In addition, I found two dead animals at my home: a large brown spider and a rat. As if that were not enough, an unfamiliar cat entered my bedroom in the middle of the night and jumped on me while I was sleeping.

Many people may view these events as mere coincidences. For me, however, they were clear signs that something was wrong.

It did not take long for me to realize that I was dealing with a negative spiritual influence. During this period, one of my Exus requested a rooster as an offering for protection. I honored that request immediately.

This experience taught me something important: spirituality communicates in many different ways. It does not always speak through words. Sometimes it communicates through dreams, intuition, impressions, and events that demand our attention.

When Legal Problems Never Materialized

Another situation in which I felt the influence of Exu and Pombagira involved conflicts that could have led to legal disputes.

I openly admit that I am not a perfect person, nor have I ever claimed to be. At that time, there were individuals planning actions against me. Part of their strategy involved the possibility of filing lawsuits and publicly damaging my reputation.

From my perspective, my Exus and Pombagiras recognized those intentions before they could take shape. As a result, the attacks lost momentum, the plans never moved forward, and none of the efforts directed against me materialized in the way they were intended.

Financial Help and Open Roads

Another area of my life where I clearly felt the help of Exu and Pombagira was my financial situation.

At one point, I was overwhelmed by debt. Bills were piling up, and I desperately needed money to regain control of my finances.

There was a sum of money I was entitled to receive from a legal settlement, but the process had stalled, and the funds remained tied up in the court system with no clear timeline for release.

Faced with that situation, I turned to my ancestors and asked for help in resolving the matter. From my perspective, the response came quickly and unexpectedly.

Only five days later, the judge signed the authorization required for payment, and I finally received the money I had been waiting for.

Some people may see that as coincidence or simply the normal pace of legal bureaucracy. For me, however, it felt like another example of spiritual assistance arriving exactly when I needed it.

The Property Sale That Happened in Ten Days

Several years later, I faced a similar financial challenge.

Once again, I needed a substantial amount of money to pay off debts and stabilize my situation. The solution appeared to be selling a property I owned.

The problem was that the property had been listed for approximately two years, and during that entire time, no serious buyer had come forward.

In the middle of my uncertainty and frustration, one of the Exus who works with me made a request. He asked for a rabbit and a rooster as offerings if he succeeded in bringing me a buyer.

I agreed to the request and committed myself to fulfilling it if the sale took place.

What happened next left a lasting impression on me.

Within just ten days, a buyer appeared and the property was sold. After two years without meaningful progress, the transaction was completed in an incredibly short period of time.

Naturally, everyone will interpret that experience differently. As for me, I see it as another example of the spiritual help I received throughout my journey.

Experiences That Strengthened My Faith

There are other experiences that deeply strengthened my trust in the Exus and Pombagiras who accompany me.

Two of those experiences involved people who, in my view, caused significant harm and suffering in my life.

In both cases, the events that followed led me to believe that spirituality had acted in some way to restore balance.

The first person presented herself as a friend while quietly working against me behind the scenes.

For a long time, I was unable to see her true intentions. Eventually, however, her marriage came to an end. According to what I later learned, her husband discovered that she had been involved with married men.

From a spiritual perspective, I believe Maria Padilha brought hidden truths into the open and allowed those actions to be revealed.

The second situation involved someone who was openly hostile toward me and who, according to my understanding, was attempting to create legal problems for me.

Some time later, that individual experienced a rather unusual situation and lost her upper front teeth.

Many people would likely view this as nothing more than an unfortunate coincidence. I personally associated it with the action of Maria Padilha, whom I have always regarded as a powerful protector during difficult times.

Regardless of how others interpret these events, they strengthened my conviction that I was never truly alone.

Whenever I needed protection, guidance, or support the most, I felt the presence of spirituality beside me.

Is Ancestor Veneration Worth It?

All of these experiences taught me that the influence of Exu and Pombagira does not always manifest in dramatic or supernatural ways.

More often, it appears through opportunities, the removal of obstacles, protection from harmful situations, and the acceleration of processes that once seemed completely stuck.

For that reason, when people ask me whether honoring the ancestors and working with Exu and Pombagira is worthwhile, I continue to give the same answer: it depends.

This path is not based solely on asking for things and receiving them. Instead, it requires commitment, learning, transformation, discipline, and personal responsibility.

In my experience, Exus and Pombagiras are not servants whose purpose is to satisfy human desires. They are spiritual guides, guardians, and mentors who help us recognize things we might otherwise fail to see on our own.
